Organizing the Group

Hello JT Energy Independence group members,

I have set up this blog page so that the group can have a single place for information and discussion when we are not in person. We have some new people that were at the event that were unable to be at the table at the time of our discussion. The are now 19.

At the meeting on Saturday we decided that we would work towards building 3 different devices that will help free us from our energy bills– a solar oven, solar hot water heater and a wind generator. We decided we would start with the easiest one first, the solar oven. Depending on the mix of skills and interest of members we may be able to work on more than one at a time.

I'm figuring that it would be a good idea to split into sub-groups based on interest and skill. I think these would be the sub-groups:

1. Researchers & Recorders
a. research the internet for existing videos and/or plans of solar ovens
b. recording notes at meetings, keeping track of expenses and materials, recording the building process.
2. Shoppers
a. Looking for and picking up free and low cost materials
b. Researching materials that will need to be purchased
3. Builders
a. people that are handy and have tools to do the building

Everyone review this and let me know if I am missing anything.

Also, leave a comment as to which sub-group that you are interested in as well as any other comment relating to getting this project going.
